Reefer Trucking in Texas
Texas is the nation’s largest state trucking market: Port of Houston and Gulf petrochemical freight, Laredo and El Paso Mexico border crossings, and the I-35/I-10/I-45 Texas Triangle metros. Reefer demand in Texas is very high, with temperature-controlled freight shaped by the state's own food, ag, and grocery distribution patterns.

Reefer Trucking Jobs in Texas — FAQs
How much do reefer truck drivers make in Texas?
This page does not publish a dollar pay band for reefer drivers in Texas. The figure that used to appear here was an unsourced regional multiplier, and every state in the same region showed the same band. Ask the carrier for the rate. Sign-on bonuses are widely advertised in this market, but the amount, the qualifying period and the clawback terms differ by carrier — read the offer letter rather than the recruiting ad, and ask when the money actually lands.
When is the busiest season for reefer drivers in Texas?
Reefer freight in Texas stays consistent year-round with frozen food and dairy distribution. Seasonal produce freight from southern and western states passes through TX during spring and summer, creating rate surges.
Are trucking companies in Texas hiring reefer drivers in 2026?
Yes — reefer driver demand in Texas is very high heading into 2026. Texas is one of the top hiring markets for reefer drivers, with multiple carriers offering sign-on bonuses, increased CPM rates, and accelerated hiring processes. Check individual carrier listings for current openings and application requirements in TX.
