OTR Hazmat Driver Jobs in Alaska — Now Hiring
TruckingJobsInUSA — Driver Placement
Job Description
TruckingJobsInUSA is actively hiring experienced Hazmat drivers for over-the-road (OTR) positions based in Alaska. We are a CDL driver recruiting agency placing qualified drivers with vetted, well-established carriers across the United States — and we have immediate openings for drivers domiciled in and around Anchorage, Alaska.
This is a full-time Hazmat driving position paying $74,500 - $105,000/year depending on experience, lane, and safety record. Home time: Out 1–2 weeks. We work with multiple client carriers, so once you apply our recruiters match you to the opening that best fits your home-time, pay, and equipment preferences — there is no cost to you, ever.
Pay context for Alaska: the statewide CDL-A average is $68,500, and the strongest-paying metros are Anchorage (about $72,400), Fairbanks (about $70,800), Juneau (about $69,200). Alaska runs above the national cost-of-living average (index 127), so the headline number buys less than it does in a cheaper state — adjusted for living costs it works out closer to $53,937. Wage trend is currently rising — Alaska offers some of the highest trucking wages in the nation due to extreme conditions, remote locations, and a persistent driver shortage. Ice road and North Slope hauls command significant premiums.
Routing matters on this account: Hazmat placarding required on Dalton Highway. Some hazmat loads restricted during extreme cold (below -40°F). Special permits for fuel tankers on Dalton. Weigh and inspection posture in the state: No traditional weigh stations. Enforcement via portable scales and roving patrols. Dalton Highway has checkpoint near Atigun Pass.
Winter operating requirement: Mandatory carry: chains required from October 1 through April 30 on many routes. ADOT can require chain-up at any time on any highway.
Fuel tax in Alaska is $0.08 per gallon diesel (lowest in US) + federal, which matters if you are comparing per-mile offers across state lines. Inspection climate: Low inspection frequency due to remote roads. Enforcement concentrated near Anchorage and Fairbanks. Dalton Highway has seasonal enforcement presence.
How it works: apply with the quick form below (under 60 seconds, no resume needed), one of our recruiters calls you to confirm your experience and what you're looking for, and we set up interviews with the carriers that match. You choose the offer that's right for you.
We require a minimum of 12 months of verifiable CDL-A driving experience for this role. If you have at least one year behind the wheel and a clean record, we want to talk to you.
