Job Description

TruckingJobsInUSA is actively hiring experienced Tanker drivers for over-the-road (OTR) positions based in New York. We are a CDL driver recruiting agency placing qualified drivers with vetted, well-established carriers across the United States — and we have immediate openings for drivers domiciled in and around New York City, New York.

This is a full-time Tanker driving position paying $71,500 - $101,000/year depending on experience, lane, and safety record. Home time: Out 1–2 weeks. We work with multiple client carriers, so once you apply our recruiters match you to the opening that best fits your home-time, pay, and equipment preferences — there is no cost to you, ever.

Pay context for New York: the statewide CDL-A average is $67,500, and the strongest-paying metros are New York City (about $76,800), Buffalo (about $60,200), Syracuse (about $58,400). New York runs above the national cost-of-living average (index 122), so the headline number buys less than it does in a cheaper state — adjusted for living costs it works out closer to $55,328. Wage trend is currently rising — New York trucking wages are rising, particularly in the NYC metro area where congestion pricing, strict delivery windows, and parking challenges command premium pay for last-mile and LTL drivers.

Routing matters on this account: Hazmat prohibited in Lincoln and Holland Tunnels. Hazmat restricted on most NYC bridges except George Washington Bridge (upper level only). Extensive hazmat route network throughout NYC boroughs. Upstate hazmat routes designated through Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo. Weigh and inspection posture in the state: Thruway weigh stations and NY State Police commercial vehicle enforcement. WIM technology on Thruway. Border crossings at Buffalo, Champlain, and other points.

Winter operating requirement: No formal chain law. NYSDOT can restrict travel during severe snow/ice events. Chains permitted.

Fuel tax in New York is $0.3205 per gallon diesel + petroleum business tax + federal, which matters if you are comparing per-mile offers across state lines. Inspection climate: High. NY State Police commercial vehicle unit is very active. NYC DOT has separate enforcement. Thruway patrol focuses on weight and safety compliance.

How it works: apply with the quick form below (under 60 seconds, no resume needed), one of our recruiters calls you to confirm your experience and what you're looking for, and we set up interviews with the carriers that match. You choose the offer that's right for you.

We require a minimum of 12 months of verifiable CDL-A driving experience for this role. If you have at least one year behind the wheel and a clean record, we want to talk to you.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL-A commercial driver's license
  • Minimum 12 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) — no major violations
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screen
  • At least 21 years of age (23+ for some lanes)
  • Tanker (N) endorsement required

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive otr pay ($71,500 - $101,000/year)
  • Weekly settlements / direct deposit
  • Medical, dental & vision options through client carriers
  • Paid orientation and sign-on bonuses on select accounts
  • Late-model, well-maintained equipment
  • Dedicated recruiter — one point of contact, no spam
