Job Description

We are hiring drivers from Maryland for an operation based in Orlando, FL, running two pieces of equipment: a dump truck and a hotshot pulling a 30 ft flatbed trailer. Both trucks are domiciled in Orlando, FL. You tell us which one you want to run — or both, if you are qualified for both.

The trucks are in Orlando, FL and you are not, and we know that. We cover your travel to the equipment. That is the entire reason this posting is open to Maryland drivers instead of Florida drivers only — we would rather pay to move the right driver than settle for whoever is closest.

Pay is based on your experience. That is the honest answer and it is the whole answer — a driver with ten years on a tri-axle and a clean record does not get quoted the same as a driver who just cleared twelve months, and the dump truck and the hotshot are not paid on the same structure either. So we are not going to print a range here that would be wrong for most of the people reading it. Tell us your real experience on the form below and we will quote you a real number on the call.

What moves your number up: verifiable years in the seat, time specifically on a dump truck or pulling a flatbed, a clean MVR, and whether you are qualified to run both trucks rather than one. If you can cover both the dump truck and the hotshot, say so — that is worth more to us and it is reflected in the offer.

W-2 or 1099 — your choice. Some drivers want the withholding handled and the benefits path; others want the higher gross and to manage their own taxes. We run both, and it is a question on the form below, not something we decide for you.

Equipment and licensing: the dump truck requires a CDL-B (a CDL-A covers it too). The hotshot with the 30 ft flatbed requires a CDL-A because of the combined weight rating. If you hold a CDL-B only, you are eligible for the dump truck seat.

Running in Maryland: gross weight tops out at 80,000 lbs, with 20,000 lbs single axle, 34,000 lbs tandem. Axle weight is the number that matters on a loaded dump truck — it is what puts you over a scale long before gross does.

Flatbed dimensions and permits in Maryland: legal width is 102 inches and legal height is 13'6". Maryland SHA permits. Baltimore metro has strict routing for oversize loads. Low bridges and tunnels require careful planning.

Tolls: Extensive tolling: I-95 Fort McHenry and Baltimore Harbor tunnels, Bay Bridge (US-50), JFK Memorial Highway (I-95), ICC (MD-200). E-ZPass required for most facilities. Truck tolls $6-48 depending on facility.

Maryland specifics worth knowing: Port of Baltimore (replaced Key Bridge with temporary channel) generates major drayage traffic; Multiple toll facilities make Maryland one of the most expensive transit states for trucks; Baltimore tunnels have strict hazmat and dimension restrictions.

How this works: fill in the form below — it takes under a minute and needs no resume. We review it, and if it is a fit we call you to talk through the seat, the pay for that role, and the travel arrangement. We confirm the fleet and the equipment details on that call once we have verified your experience and record.

Requirements

  • CDL-B for the dump truck, or CDL-A for the hotshot with the 30 ft flatbed
  • Minimum 12 months of verifiable commercial driving experience
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) — no major violations
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screen
  • At least 21 years of age for interstate driving
  • Willing to relocate to the truck in Florida — travel covered by us

Pay & Benefits

  • Travel to the truck is covered — we pay to get you to Florida
  • W-2 or 1099, your choice, decided by you and not assigned to you
  • Choice of equipment: dump truck, hotshot flatbed, or both
  • Direct contact with the people running the trucks, not a call centre
  • Pay reflects your actual experience — more years and a clean record mean a better number
  • Qualified on both trucks? That is worth more, and we pay for it
