Job Description
We are hiring box truck delivery drivers for local routes in metro areas across the country. You will be driving 16-foot to 26-foot straight trucks delivering furniture, appliances, building materials, restaurant supplies, and other commercial goods to businesses and residences. This is a home-daily position with regular Monday through Friday schedules in most markets.
Box truck driving is the most accessible entry point into commercial trucking. Depending on the truck's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), you may need a CDL-B or no CDL at all — trucks under 26,001 pounds GVWR can be driven with a standard Class D license in most states. This makes it ideal for drivers who want to start a trucking career without investing in a full CDL-A program, or for experienced drivers who prefer local work and daily home time.
Your daily routine will include loading your truck (or having it pre-loaded at the warehouse), following a planned delivery route with 10 to 25 stops, using a hand truck or liftgate to move freight, and collecting delivery signatures. You will earn $45,000 to $60,000 annually depending on your market, experience, and whether the position is hourly or route-based. Overtime is common during peak shipping seasons.
Requirements
- CDL-B license preferred, or valid Class D license for trucks under 26,001 lbs GVWR
- Clean driving record — no more than 2 moving violations in 3 years
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Basic navigation skills — comfort with GPS and delivery route apps
- Customer service skills for business and residential deliveries
- Must be at least 18 years old (21 for CDL positions)
- Ability to pass drug screen and background check
- Prior delivery or driving experience a plus but not required
