FedEx Freight Overview
FedEx Freight is the LTL division of FedEx Corporation, one of the most recognized brands in global logistics. Operating over 15,000 tractors from approximately 400 service centers across the U.S., FedEx Freight is one of the largest LTL carriers in North America. The division was formed through FedEx's acquisitions of American Freightways and Viking Freight.
FedEx Freight offers drivers the stability and benefits of working for a Fortune 50 corporation. Most positions are local city pickup-and-delivery or regional linehaul routes, with drivers home daily or most nights. The company offers both FedEx Freight Priority (expedited LTL) and FedEx Freight Economy services, giving drivers variety in the types of freight they handle.
Pay and benefits are competitive for the LTL segment, though not quite at the Old Dominion level. FedEx's corporate benefits package — including health insurance, pension plan, 401(k), and tuition reimbursement — is one of the strongest in the industry. The company has been investing in fleet modernization and technology to maintain its competitive position.

FedEx Freight city drivers are home daily, working standard day or evening shifts. Linehaul drivers work overnight shifts running trailers between service centers and are typically home at the end of their shift. Some relay linehaul routes may require brief overnight stays at halfway-point service centers. FedEx Freight generally provides consistent scheduling with predictable start times.
Training Program
FedEx Freight requires a minimum of 1 year CDL-A experience and does not operate a CDL training school. The company does offer internal dock-to-driver programs at select service centers, allowing dockworkers to earn their CDL and move into driving positions. New driver hires go through FedEx Freight orientation and LTL-specific training on procedures, safety, and customer service.
