Delaware-Specific CDL Notes

Delaware DMV administers CDL testing only at the Dover and Wilmington locations. A medical self-certification and DOT physical card must be presented at the time of application. Delaware's position along the I-95 corridor makes it a strategic hub for Northeast freight, with many distribution centers along US-13 and DE-1.

Can I transfer my out-of-state CDL to Delaware?

Yes. You must surrender your out-of-state CDL, pass a vision screening, provide proof of Delaware residency, present a valid DOT medical card, and pay the applicable fees. Knowledge and skills tests are typically waived for transfers.
